Sun-Mon Snow Event Continues To Look Possible (Nov 11-12)

​(10:00PM - 11/8/19) The chances continue to hold for a snow event across at least portions of the state, Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.

After coming into somewhat better agreement, model guidance has reverted back to being in high disagreement regarding this period. Unfortunately, the large amount of disagreement will preclude us from getting too detailed with possible outcomes and possible snowfall totals. The start of this event is only a little over a day and a half away, so it is likely that model guidance will paint a clearer picture for future updates on Saturday. At this point will continue to ride the original idea of some accumulation being likely across at least portions of the state, with upwards of several inches being possible for the hardest hit areas. Additionally, lake effect and lake enhancement will be possible for areas of Northeast Illinois near Lake Michigan.

Following the potential snow event, record cold temperatures continue to look likely across the state, for early int he week. A snow cover would only help ensure that the cold temps would be likely.
