Summary... Monday, July 20th... Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms have been ongoing this morning across portions of Southern Illinois. As a disturbance moves across the state today, additional scattered showers and t'storms will develop and move across Southern, and perhaps portions of Central Illinois, this afternoon into tonight. An environment in place will feature moderate instability, high moisture, marginal shear and marginal forcing will be in place. This will support upwards of a minimal severe t'storm threat across the southern portion of the state. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats. Additionally, given recent heavy rainfall across Southern Illinois and the expected additional rainfall, some localized flooding and high rainfall totals will be possible. Tuesday, July 21st... Isolated to scattered showers may be ongoing Tuesday morning across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. In the wake of this potential early day activity, some clearing and destabilization will occur across the state. As another disturbance moves across the state on Tuesday, scattered showers and t'storms will move across the state with it. This activity, int he form of clusters, will push across the state Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. An environment in place will feature moderate instability, high moisture, marginal shear and marginal forcing will be in place. This will support upwards of a minimal severe t'storm threat across much of the state. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats. Additionally, given recent heavy rainfall across portions of the state and the expected additional rainfall, some localized flooding and high rainfall totals will be possible.
