(9:00PM - 1/6/21) A period of cold temperatures has been affecting the state the middle and end of this week. While cold temperatures is nothing new to Illinois at this time of year, brief shot of very cold conditions will be possible for portions of the state tonight through Friday morning.

As an area of high pressure moves from Canada on down through the Midwest the middle and end of this week, cold temperatures have been occurred the past few days and will continue to be possible for the next few days. Of note will be tonight into Friday morning, which is when very cold conditions are expected across portions of the state.

Very cold conditions are expected tonight through Friday morning across portions of the state. The coldest conditions will be across portions of Northwest, Western and North-Central Illinois, where low temperatures will range from -3 to -13 and wind chills will range from -10 to -25. Across the remainder of the state, cold temperature and will chills are also expected, though at slightly moderated levels...with low temperatures between -3 to 7 and wind chills between 0 and -15.
