Thur-Fri, May 14-15th Flood Threat

(12:30PM - 5/14/20) The same storm system that will bring the chance for severe t'storms to the state today, will also bring heavy rain and flood potential to portions of the state as well.

Synopsis...
A few rounds of rain and t'storms have been moving across Northern and  Central Illinois, from late last night morning and now into early this afternoon. The hardest hit areas were north of I-88 in Northern Illinois, where upwards of 1.00-2.50" of rain occurred. Elsewhere rainfall amounts were much less across the rest of Northern Illinois and Central Illinois, generally 0.25-1.25". 

Additional rounds of heavy rain and t'storms are likely to develop and push across Northern and Central Illinois, this afternoon through tonight. Additional rainfall totals upwards of 2-5"+ are likely within the heaviest expected corridor across Northern Illinois, which will likely set up in the vicinity of the I-88 or I-80 corridors area. Outside of this corridor, rainfall totals of 0.50-2.00" will be more common across the rest of Northern and Central Illinois. Across the main aforementioned heaviest corridor, there will be overlap for areas that picked up the heaviest rainfall with the activity last night into this morning. This is where the highest cumulative rainfall totals for this event will likely be, upwards of 3-7" total when all said and done. This is also where this highest flood potential will be as well, with a higher end flood potential likely.
