Thur, Mar. 14th Severe Weather Threat

(6:30AM - 3/14/19) An isolated severe weather threat will exist today across portions of the state...

A strong storm system that has been pushing through the region, bringing heavy rain and high winds to portions of the state, will also bring the chance for an isolated severe t'storm threat today. An area of rain and t'storms developed late last night and very early this morning across Texas and Arkansas. This activity has rapidly pushed northeast, along with further development having occurred. Some of this activity has been and will continue to brush across portions of Southeast Illinois this morning. Given the environment in place, an isolated strong to severe t'storm is possible. Should a t'storm become severe, all modes of severe weather are possible.

The other area of focus will be along and ahead of a cold front sweeping across the state this morning and afternoon. This front will enter Western and Southwest Illinois by mid-morning. Scattered showers and t'storms will likely develop along it and ahead of the front, with this activity then sweeping across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois during the morning and afternoon. Given the environment in place, an isolated strong to severe t'storm is likely. Should a t'storm become severe, all modes of severe weather are possible. The greatest chance for this will be across Northeast and Eastern Illinois. A marginal environment will preclude a greater severe weather threat across aforementioned areas.
