Tue, May 21st Severe Weather Threat Update #2

(9:00PM - 5/20/19) A storm system ejecting out into the region will help bring the chance for severe t’storm stl portions of the state on Tuesday.

Tuesday afternoon-night...
A large area of rain and isolated t’storms is expected to push across much of the state from later tonight into later Tuesday morning. In the wake of this activity, a large complex of rain and t’storm that will be left from Monday’s severe weather outbreak in the Plains will be ongoing across portions of Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas during Tuesday morning and early afternoon. This activity is expected to push eastward across much of the state from mid afternoon Tuesday into early Tuesday night. The environment ahead of this activity will be supportive of a isolated to widely scattered severe t’storm threat across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. The environment in place will feature low instability, good moisture and good shear. Wind and hail will be the main threats with any severe t’storm, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

As mentioned in previous forecasts, a severe t’storm threat may continue to be possible beyond Tuesday, into later in the week and weekend. However, it appears there will be no threat on Wednesday, as well as potentially Thursday too. Thus, any potential threat for later in the week and weekend will be discussed in later articles should it be warranted.
