Tue-Sun, May 21-26th Severe Weather Threat Update #1

(10:15AM - 5/20/19) Multiple disturbances, and a few main storm systems ejecting through the region, will bring the chance of severe t’storms to portions of the state for a multi-day period.

Tuesday afternoon-night...
A few areas of rain and isolated t’storm will likely push across portions of Central and Southern Illinois Tuesday morning. A large complex of rain and t’storm, that will be left from Monday’s expected severe weather outbreak in the Plains, will be ongoing across portions of Missouri and Arkansas during Tuesday morning and early afternoon. This activity is expected to push eastward into portions of Western and Southwest Illinois during Tuesday afternoon and evening, eventually further spreading across more of Central and Southern Illinois Tuesday early night. The environment ahead of this activity will be supportive of a isolated to widely scattered severe t’storm threat. The environment in place will feature low instability, good moisture and good shear. Should an t’storm reach severe levels, wind and hail will be the main threats, though and isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Additionally, a severe t’storm threat will likely be possible across portions of the state from Wednesday through Sunday. These days will be discussed in more detail as we get closer to each day.
