Tue-Thur, Dec 15-17th Light Snow & Lake Effect Snow Event Update #1

(11:45AM - 12/15/20) A developing storm system, which will eventually become a major snowstorm for the Northeast, will first bring period of snow and minor accumulation to portions of Central and Southern Illinois...late this evening through Wednesday afternoon. Additionally, a period of lake effect snow will be possible across Northeast Illinois, early Wednesday morning through Thursday morning.

An area of snow will develop and spread across much of Southern and portions of Central Illinois later this evening and early tonight, then continuing overnight and through Wednesday morning, before ending from Wednesday afternoon. Minor snowfall accumulation is expected, generally ranging a dusting to 1.5" across portions of Central and Southern Illinois.

A period of lake effect snow is also expected across Northeast Illinois, early Wednesday morning through Thursday morning. Minor snowfall accumulation is expected, ranging from a dusting to 1.5".
