(11:15PM - 5/22/19) A storm system pushing across the region will bring the chance for severe t’storms to portions of the state Tuesday through Thursday.
On Tuesday, a round of rain and isolated t’storms pushed across portions of the state during the morning. A second round of rain and t’storms pushed across much of the state during the afternoon into night. Scattered severe t’storms occurred across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. Wind and hail were the common occurrence, but a few isolated tornadoes also occurred. Tonight... Widespread showers and t’storms have been ongoing across Northern and Central Illinois late this afternoon into tonight. Severe t’storms have been scattered to numerous across Central Illinois, with all modes of severe weather having occurred. Widespread showers and t’storms will continue to push across much of the state overnight tonight, with a continued scattered severe t’storm threat likely across portions of Central and Southern Illinois...thought this threat will eventually wane with time late tonight. All modes of severe weather are possible with storm that reaches severe levels.
Thursday afternoon into night...
An isolated shower or t’storm may be ongoing across portions of Central and Southern Illinois Thursday morning...left over remnants of activity from Wednesday night. With a frontal boundary lingering across Central and Southern Illinois, continued isolated showers and t’storms will be likely across these areas through the day on Thursday and into Thursday night. An environment in place featuring low to moderate instability, good moisture and average shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated strong to severe t’storm threat across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. Wind and hail will be the main threats. Further northwest, a weakening complex of showers and t’storms may push into portions of Western and Northern Illinois Thursday night. An environment in place featuring low instability, good moisture and average shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated strong to severe t’storm threat across portions of Northern and Western Illinois. Wind and hail will be the main threats.
