5/23/2019

(9:30AM - 5/23/19) A storm system pushing across the region will bring the chance for severe t’storms to portions of the state Tuesday through Thursday.

On Tuesday, a round of rain and isolated t’storms pushed across portions of the state during the morning. A second round of rain and t’storms pushed across much of the state during the afternoon into night. Scattered severe t’storms occurred across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. Wind and hail were the common occurrence, but a few isolated tornadoes also occurred.

On Wednesday, widespread showers and t’storms occurred across Northern and Central Illinois from late Wednesday afternoon on into Wednesday night. Severe t’storms were numerous and widespread, mostly across Central Illinois and surrounding areas. All modes of severe weather occurred, including a few tornadoes and a widespread high/damaging wind event.
Thursday morning into night...
Isolated to scattered showers and t’storms have been ongoing across portions of Central and Southern Illinois this morning...left over remnants of activity from last night. With a frontal boundary lingering across Central and Southern Illinois, continued isolated showers and t’storms will be likely across these areas through the day today and into tonight. An environment in place featuring low to moderate instability, good moisture and average shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated strong to severe t’storm threat across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. Wind and hail will be the main threats. Further northwest, a weakening complex of showers and t’storms will likely push across portions of Northern and Central Illinois tonight. An environment in place featuring low instability, good moisture and average shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated strong to severe t’storm threat across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. Wind and hail will be the main threats.

Below are the updated TAM severe weather forecasts for each upcoming day of this multi-day event.
