(4:30PM - 4/17/19) Periods of heavy rain and t'storms the next several days will bring the chance for flooding to portions of the state tonight through Friday night...
Periods of rain and t'storms will be likely across the state from now through Friday evening. Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms are likely across portions of Northern Illinois from this evening into later tonight. However, for this area rainfall amounts will be low with no flood potential expected. The main focus for this period is across Central and Southern Illinois. Across these areas, periods of rain and t'storms will be likely from tonight through Friday evening. The most widespread and organized activity will be from tonight through Thursday evening, as a frontal boundary slowly pushes east across the state and disturbances ride up along it. Widespread rainfall totals across these areas will be in excess of 1", with totals of 2-4" likely in some areas...most likely across portions of Southern Illinois. A low to moderate flood threat will be possible for these areas, given the wet pattern that has been in place for over a month now and the expected heavy rainfall totals. Below is our updated TAM flood forecast for this event.
