(8:00PM - 1/19/22) A period of cold temperatures will affect portions of the state over the next several days. While cold temperatures are nothing new to Illinois at this time of year, a brief shot of very cold conditions will be possible for portions of the state tonight into Thursday morning and Thursday night into Friday morning.
Summary... An area of high pressure will move from the Northern Plains tonight, through the Midwest on Thursday and then through the Great Lakes on Friday. A shot of cold temperatures will accompany this area of high pressure as it moves through the region.

Very cold conditions are expected tonight into Thursday morning and then once again Thursday night into Friday morning across Northwest Illinois. Across Northwest Illinois for both tonight and Thursday night, low temperatures will range from 5 to -5 and wind chills will range from -10 to -25. Across the remainder of the state, cold temperature and will chills are also expected, though at slightly moderated levels.
