(10:30AM Fri, March 24th 2023) Friday morning update on a storm system that will continue to move through the region, through Saturday. This will bring a few additional periods of rain and t'storms to portions of the state, with continued severe t'storm potential and heavy rain/flood potential across the southern half of the state. With this update we have moved severe t'storm probabilities a bit north for today/tonight across Southern Illinois, and have adjusted the heavy rain/flood forecast a bit based on real time observations.
Timing & Location... •Severe T'storms: -This afternoon - Early tonight, March 24th: Southern Illinois. •Heavy Rain/Flooding: -Thru tonight, March 24th: Central & Southern Illinois. Impacts... •A final round of severe t'storm potential is expected across Southern Illinois, this afternoon through tonight. •Widespread heavy rainfall is expected across portions of the state, especially Southern Illinois, through tonight. Widespread final event rainfall totals upwards of 1.00-5.00" are expected in a corridor across Southern Illinois, with locally higher amounts possible. Localized to widespread flooding is likely.
