As a weak and fast moving storm system moves through the region tonight into Wednesday, an associated area of light precipitation will develop and spread across the state during this time-frame. Across Northern Illinois, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to upper 20's tonight, then rising into the lower 30's Wednesday morning. As precipitation moves in, it will fall in the form of freezing rain across a good portion of Northern Illinois, due to the aforementioned colder temperatures in place. Freezing rain will be likely across Northern Illinois from later tonight into the day on Wednesday, before temperatures warm slightly allowing the little remaining precipitation to change over to rain mid to late morning, before ending. Ice accumulation of a glaze up to around 0.10" is likely across Northern Illinois. The minor ice accumulation will likely lead to icy roads and travel issues for the Wednesday morning commute across Northern Illinois. Further south, precipitation will be in the form of isolated to scattered rain showers across Central and Southern Illinois, later tonight into the day on Wednesday. Below are the TAM snow and ice forecasts for this event.
