(9:15PM Tuesday - 6/14/22) As a storm system moves through the region on Wednesday, showers and t'storms are expected to develop along the associated cold front Wednesday afternoon across portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri. This activity will move eastward into the state, and then traverse portions of Northern and Western Illinois, Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Given environmental conditions expected to be in place, a severe t'storm risk will be possible with some of this activity across Northern and Western Illinois.
With this update we have upgraded far Northwest Illinois to a level 3 severe t'storm risk, as the potential for a heightened severe t'storm potential is becoming more likely. Elsewhere, little to no change to the previous forecast was needed. Location... -Northern and Western Illinois. Timing... -Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Impacts... -A level 1 to 3 severe t'storm risk is in place across Northern and Western Illinois, Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. -Isolated to scattered severe t'storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
