Wed, June 3rd Severe T'storm Threat Update #1

(11:00AM - 6/2/20) A storm system moving through the region will bring the chance for severe t’storms to portions of the state on Wednesday.

Synopsis...
A weakening complex of showers and t’storms is expected to push into Northern Illinois late tonight into Wednesday morning. An isolated strong t'storm is possible, but severe t'storms are not expected. In the wake of this early day activity, some clearing and destabilization will likely occur ahead of a cold front advancing across the state. Showers and t’storms are expected to develop during the afternoon across Central Illinois, along the cold front and any potential lingering outflow boundary from early day activity. This activity will then push southeast across Central and Southern Illinois, Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. An environment expected to be in place will feature high instability, great moisture, decent shear and decent forcing. This will all aide in upwards of a limited severe t’storm threat across much of Central and Southern Illinois. We have increased severe t'storm probabilities since our last update due to increasing confidence. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
