(8:30PM - 4/16/19) A storm system moving through the region in the coming days will bring another heavy rain and flood event to portions of the state Wednesday and Thursday.
Model guidance from this afternoon and evening continue to be in good agreement regarding the heavy rain and flooding potential during this period, thus no changes are needed to the going forecast at this time. Previous discussion... Periods of rain and t'storms will be likely across the state from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening. Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms are likely across portions of Northern and Western Illinois Wednesday morning into Wednesday night. The most organized and widespread activity will be across Central and Southern Illinois from Wednesday night through Thursday evening. Widespread rainfall totals across these areas will be in excess of 1", with totals of 2-4" likely in some areas, depending on where training occurs. A low end flood threat will be possible for these areas, given the wet pattern that has been in place for over a month now. Once the location of higher rainfall totals is nailed down, higher flood probabilities may need to be added. Below is our updated TAM flood forecast for this event.
