A storm system moving through the region Wednesday and Thursday will bring a period of high winds to the state, Wednesday morning through Thursday morning. High winds aloft, characterized by a low level jet of 70-80KT, will be in place. Ample mixing is expected, which will transport higher winds to the surface. During this period, wind gusts of 35-55MPH are expected across Central Illinois, and 45-65MPH across Northern Illinois. Wind gusts to these levels could cause minor tree damage and isolated power outages. Below is the high wind forecast for this event.
