(11:00AM Thur, Feb 16th 2023) Thursday morning update regarding a winter storm that will continue to impact the state through tonight, and has been bringing the opportunity for a severe t'storms and accumulating snow/sleet/freezing rain to portions of the state. With this update we have adjusted the snowfall forecast gradient, and removed the severe t'storm risk across Southern Illinois, as the threat has ended.
Timing & Location...
•Snowfall (Mixed Precip): This morning - Tonight, Feb 16th: Northern & Central Illinois.
•Periods of snow will continue across Northern Illinois, through tonight. Snowfall accumulation ranging from a dusting-1" to 4-7" is expected, with locally higher totals likely. Minor sleet/ice pellet accumulation is also likely.
•Periods of mixed precipitation, including freezing rain, are likely across portions of Northern and Central Illinois, through this evening. Ice accumulation of a glaze to 0.10" is expected, with locally higher totals possible.
