(6:30PM - 1/16/19) A weak disturbance quickly pushing through the region will bring the chance for a mix of precipitation across the state tonight into later Thursday afternoon.
Precipitation is expected to develop west of the state this evening, across portions of the Plains and Midwest. This activity will quickly push into the state tonight, continuing into Thursday, before ending from east to west across the state during the afternoon.
While most of the state will see some sort of precip, amounts will remain fairly light. Precip across all of Southern and across portions Central Illinois will be rain. Further north, precip will start as snow for the middle of Central Illinois, before transitioning to a mix or rain. Across the remainder of Central Illinois into Northern Illinois precip will be all snow.
Snowfall totals across Northern Illinois will be a trace to a dusting, with totals of a dusting to 2" across portions of Central Illinois. The highest accumulation will likely be in the vicinity of a line from Macomb - Bloomington - Watseka. A glaze of ice may be possible across portions of Central Illinois as well.
