(3:30PM - 2/6/20) Yet another storm system is expected to move through the region this weekend, bringing the potential for some accumulating snow to portions of the state on Sunday.
A storm system is expected to move through the region, and spread precipitation across the state from early Sunday morning through Sunday night. While Central and Southern Illinois will see rain, of focus will be Northern Illinois. Across Northern Illinois dynamic and evaporative cooling will likely keep precipitation as mostly snow, during the early Sunday morning through Sunday night time-frame. While accumulating snow looks increasingly possible across Northern Illinois during this time...It should be noted that it appears surface temperatures will become increasingly marginal as this event unfolds...Thus, snow will likely accumulate less efficiently with time during the event.
At this time, model guidance is in disagreement with the overall track, strength and location of exact snowfall amounts. However, there is widespread agreement on accumulating snow extending across Northern Illinois. Future updates are likely as we get closer to this event, with more specifics and potential snowfall amounts.
