The latest road conditions for Illinois can be obtained on the Internet at www.gettingaroundillinois.com. *************************************************************************** The heaviest snows are obviously expected to fall where the warnings are in place, with lesser amounts across the advisory areas. Some spots may see winter mixed precip and even a light ice accumulation before a full changeover to snow. Areas across northern Illinois should miss out on snow this time with the primary system expected to track too far south.
Far southern Illinois should remain warm enough to see mostly rain. We are expecting two round of precip with the first beginning around noon and lasting through the evening. Most of the snow should fall during this round, but a second weaker wave will move through late Monday and could add a little more. Our current TAM is below.
We will bring you more updates soon, including detailed articles that better lay out precipitation timing and our latest thoughts with regards to amounts, but it appears a portion of Central Illinois is in store for a heavy round of snow and hazardous travel.
